I was listening to music last night. I started with the top hits of the 80's last night. I must confess, I was doing a lot of chair dancing. I did not really appreciate the music when I was young. More recently I have and even enjoy dancing. I am not a great dancer, but I am enthusiastic . My taste in music is eclectic , running from stuff in the 40's and 50's, Spanish / Salsa and Merengue , Country and for that matter most everything. Is there one genre that is your favorite? What type of music do you dance to? Are any of you music performers or singers? (not me, I can not carry a tune in a bushel basket) For dance time, what is your choice? I am in for most everything, why not have fun?

The site will not let me comment to your posts. I will keep trying

I was contemplating some of the changes in my life as I "mature" . I guess I could just hang around and watch the world go by, but I think my mind is too active and my body still has not started to wear out. All the "best parts " still work just fine. Why just give up as the years get added on? I am reminded of a quote, attributed to George Carlin "'Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "HOLY SHIT....WHAT A RIDE!"

I am one of the youngest guys in my neighborhood. A friend of mine sent this too me, it is sort of what my neighborhood is like

HOME REPAIRS!
Today, a friend of mine’s wife said to him,
"Honey, get off your butt and fix that gutter downspout!
And, I want it done before the end of the day!”
Well, as you all know, at my age, my friend, and most our age, are retired and do have the time to address such “Honey do’s”..
So, he invited some of us neighborhood buddies over to help with the project.
One is a sheet metal fabricator.
One brought his welder.
One brought beer and Nachos.
One brought a grill and burgers. Took us about 4-6 hours, and 30-40 beers, but we got it done just as we finished off the last of the burgers.
As usual, the wife is still not happy!
Can’t understand, cause all us guys love it!
Personally, I cannot wait for it to rain again
.

How has your life changed as you have matured (if it has)? In you opinion, is it inevitable that change has to occur? Do you think that George Carlins quote (above) is a good philosophy?

I have decided that today is a day of 'protest" for me and a question. I want to know why a woman's breasts must be constrained and imprisoned all day ? I have no personal knowledge about the discomfort, but it must be repressive after a long day. My lady friends always seem to have a sigh of relief when they remove their bra at the end of the day . Ladies should have the right to be comfortable all day if they so choose. So I say "FREE THE GIRLS, FREE THE GIRLS!!!. I will be more than happy to provide any support needed to any lady that joins the "protest". Feel free to add in any similar "protest" that you may have

Enough of seriousness. I am taking today off and plan on just doing a lot of soaking in the tub, laying around and maybe misbehaving. I have no intentions of wearing clothes (ok maybe a robe sometimes ), I am just kind of rebelling. Hopefully after all the soaking in the tub, I will not be looking like some sort of prune, all wrinkly . Do you ever have a day like that? Maybe best described as being a bit hedonistic? Do you ever just spoil yourself? If so how?

Ok, today is Tuesday. And it is time for some yucks and chuckles. Why? You may ask? Just because. Do we need a reason to be funny, make our friends and ourselves have just a little laugh? We are approaching the end of the year, so let it all hang out and share something funny that happened this year, or just a joke.

Today is the day when all the scary critters come out of their holes, seeking sweets or delivering tricks . So much for my attempts at rhyming . Halloween used to be one of my favorite holidays. Such much candy, so many scary things. Now it seems that adults are having fun with the day. Maybe a bit over board at time, but why not? Is Halloween a "big" day where you are? Do you participate? Do you think it has changed since you were a ?

When I turned on the TV for the news, the channel was on a Cartoon Channel. I am not normally a cartoons guy, but I did get a chuckle from some of the Super Hero characters. So here are my questions... Do you watch cartoons? Do you have a favorite Super Hero character? And let us suspend reality for a little while, what Cartoon Super Hero would you like to be, or meet?

Well, it is a Sassy Saturday. I am feeling a bit frisky . How are you feeling today? Do you ever have a day when you feel a bit sassy, I think in some areas you use the word cheeky. Dare I say, don't act your age ? Sit around watching cartoons, staying in your jammies or underwear all day. Or anything you consider sassy. Depending on her schedule, I just may "surprise" one of my friends today. What are your Sassy Saturday thoughts or plans?

It is a wonderful day in the neighborhood!. This is my favorite part of the day. Generally it is quiet, I can watch the sun as it comes up and usually no rush now that I am retired. And of course time for that first cup of the nectar that some call coffee. Do you like mornings? What is your morning routine? Is coffee, tea or some other beverage part of the wakeup ritual? For me, breakfast is a big meal, it just gets my day going smoothly. How about you? I know I have posted similar to this, but I can not get enough of early mornings

NATIONAL AMERICAN BEER DAY

National American Beer Day is observed annually by beer drinkers across the nation on October 27. What a great day!!! A celebration of one of the basic food groups. There are more than 2,100 breweries that manufacture beer in the United States. They range in size from industry giants to brew pubs and microbreweries. I so enjoy a cold beer on occasion. Is beer a beverage that you enjoy? If so, is there a type / style that you like? Now, if I could only align Beer, Bacon and of course Coffee National Days , I would be such a happy camper

I continue to be befuddled at the way things are going. I am thinking that "we" are making just weird decisions. I am sensitive to the fact that some folks do need additional assistance . But must the "majority" be impinged upon ? I am going to be very frank here. Other than for medical or true mental issues, it is time that people and institutions grow a set of balls and stop being whoosies. Providing 'crutches' for every little issues limits the growth of coping skills. The article below seems to be an example of it. What are your thoughts? Have you seen any other examples?

University of Florida offers counseling for students offended by Halloween costumes

GAINESVILLE, FL – OCTOBER 15: Martez Ivey #73 of the Florida Gators celebrates with fans following a victory over the Missouri Tigers at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on October 15, 2016.
As Halloween approaches, Americans young and old are readying their costumes for a night of fright and fun. Besides the usual ghosts, superheroes, and witches, some people are likely planning creative costumes that make light of current events. Expect to see more than a few donning “Make America Great Again” hats or pantsuits and blonde wigs to imitate our presidential candidates.
At the University of Florida, students who are offended by these or other Halloween costumes now have the option to take advantage of around-the-clock counseling.
According to a University of Florida memo,“
If you choose to participate in Halloween activities, we encourage you to think about your choices of costumes and themes. Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of people.
The memo informs students that if they are offended, they can email the U Matter, We Care program and “there is a 24/7 counselor in the Counseling and Wellness Center available to speak by phone.”
Furthermore, students can inform the Bias Education and Response Team, which is ready to, “respond to any reported incidents of bias, to educate those that were involved, and to provide support by connecting those that were impacted to the appropriate services and resources.”
Intervening in Halloween costume choices is the latest example of college administrators treating students more like delicate than mature adults.

I know that sweet_VM is into Zumba and wondered who else may be into it? I for one am not. To use a the term OMG!! Is an understatement. My neighbors is a Zumba instructor, I have watched her classes and am convinced that it would kick my buttocks. My hat is off to those that do it for sure. Have you, or do you do Zumba? If you don't, is it something you would like to try? Do you have a different exercise regime? Mine is jogging and light to medium weights.

A question for the day. Do you praise others? I am talking , praising for an accomplishment, or an effort? It could be a random stranger, a friend, a , your partner, a co worker. Do you think praise can be used as a teaching tool? I have found that judiciously applied EARNED praise is usually very effective as a learning tool. And with my partner it can also get some very nice responses. Are your praises verbal, maybe a note or a physical gesture?
