149 Days Till Christmas Just in case you were enjoying this long hot summer, I'd just like to remind you that Christmas is on it's way. 21 weeks and 2 days. 3,576 hours. Tick Tock. That time of year when you drag a big dead tree into your home, try your best to get it to stand up straight, and not drop needles on your floor while you decorate it. That time of year when you throw your budget, your diet, and your sanity out the window. Time to drag all those yard ornaments and exterior lights out so you can pay a bigger electric bill. Clean up that spare room for guests that, Thank God, you only have to see once a year. The in-coming and out-going of Christmas cards. The sharp elbows of Christmas cheer that greets you at the malls. The table leaf that you drag out, and dust off so you can eat with people that make you lose your appetite. The annoying music that seems to be everywhere, playing continuously in a loop .....Frosty the uggghhhh, I can't even finish it. Yes, what a wonderful time of year. Did I leave anything out?  |

Can you imagine if some other life form killed humans, dragged them in their home, and decorated them? What an odd tradition. We decorate a live plant. It may only be July, but it's gonna happen.

I don't have to wait till Christmas to throw my sanity out the window! How can you lose what you didn't have to start with? Most of the rest of it I don't worry too much about. Don't shop much so don't spend much. Don't worry about the little extra I'll eat because I don't have a big dinner...or company. I do put up a small tree, but I make sure it's well trained so as to not drop needles everywhere. That and a tree skirt helps contain the few odd ones that escape. lol But it's the damned music that drives me freakin nuts! Same songs playing 24/7 for weeks on end. Thank goodness for cd instead of radio. Pagan  Hmmmm....I know I left that wand around here somewhere!

I used to love the xmas season, but the last few years have got harder and harder to want to do anything about it. Last year we didn't even put a tree up .. neither of us felt like it, what with our son's pending move to the care home, neither were in the xmas mood. I feel the same way about my flower gardens this year .. just don't give a shit. Nothing really makes me look forward to anything, except I still look forward to my birthday for some reason lol.

Apparently you haven't been to Hobby Lobby in the last 2 months...they already had Christmas shit out in JUNE. I love Christmas, the celebrating with family, decorating the tree, watching holiday movies...and all the Christmas cards that arrive. I love the songs and will start listening right around Thanksgiving. What I don't look forward to is the stress of holidays...that stress that we put on ourselves to make everything perfect and memorable.
