 I've gone 'dutch' at times but I've never been financially dependant on a partner.

 I am a FEMALE and YES I have been...

I was somewhat financially dependent on my ex husband when I stayed home and raised our children. I didn't work outside the home at the time. He got sick and I went to work, and then we were on more equal footing. We are divorced now.

I had a lover after that - that was quite well off, with a big house - owns two businesses - had a few toys (cars - boat)...but never asked, nor thought of asking for any money, or help with anything.

 I have a couple of times been financially dependent on my wife when I have been laid off from a couple of jobs and been unemployed for a couple of months each time while waiting for the next job
